I am drafting my presentation to a Leadership Workshop. The workshop forms part of the process of team building at my workplace. Team mentoring is an integral part of any talent management strategy.
Leadership counts at any unit level, however big or small it may be. The smallest unit is family. In these days of nuclear families, it is dad, mum and our two (hum do aur hamare do). A community is a set of families. A locality is a set of communities. A village is a set of localities. And a taluk, district, state and country are but units consisting of villages and so forth.
Hence, it is essential to drive and manage change at the family level. Change at micro level delivers results at macro level. It is also easy to manage the micro in comparison to macro.
Apologies to feminists, but the family in traditional India is still male oriented. Dad wears the pants and calls the shots (at least every male has his wife's permission to say so!). A family with a weak dad (head) is destined to be fall behind others in all aspects of human experiences and left behind in society.
Building leadership skills based on competency framework at workplace, therefore, not only assures operational excellence, but it ensures stable family relationships, happier families and less stressful communities.
