its sad to learn that inspite to many attempts, you failed in many exams. i would say, you and i were sailing on the same boat, as i too didn't like studies, at your age.

but, there have been instances when i got "promoted" in my 9th class as my class teacher held high regards for me and thought me as intelligent ... or i just skipped some exams, inspite of burning lot of mid-night oil in studies, as it was so boring to just sit in a corner and read those bulky books, it was like "emotional atyachaar" by the near and dear to do well in exams.

its so disappointing that you could not become your "papa's boy" ... but hey, you have made your dad proud by making him say "i am Satbir's father" !

aur ladki ki baath rahi, tho kyu fikar ... ladki hai naa ... shaadi karke sasural tho jaayegi hi ... baabul ko chitti likhne me kaamyaab ho gayi ... bas ithna hi chahiye na ?

on second thoughts ... if she succeeds in making some minutes of a general meeting in a company's board meeting, as a company secretary, then that would be even more better ... after all ladies are equal to men ...

Academic excellance matters, but to only to AN extent..Your son and daughter will succeed, only to the extent what they define success is..

yes, i am serious ...

i am completely for the hindu culture ... and i think that females are essentially "lakshmi of house" ... and that is how it should be ...

so, there must be equal basic education for both males and females ... say till 12th standard ... this education must be compulsory for all.

the option of studying further, should left to the respective students.

but, essentially, females are the ones who have to set the house right, like a "gruha lakshmi". 

its because its the ladies who go to her babul's house. a male going to his wife's house as ghar jamai is really rare ... unless for example, that lady is very rich and wealthy and this guy is a poor fellow.

i hope this is not irritating the ears of the so called modern pink top and jeans wearing, and pub going, beer drinking, fashionable ladies to today. and if it does, then i pity you ladies.

There is nothing hindu abt the culture you refer to.  Man being the head of the house is prolly a global phenomenon.. with a few exceptions.. as in the matriarchal system amongst Nairs in Kerala. 

Your view about the extent and use of a girls education, 'to write letters to her paternal home' appears condescending.. to me.

modern times have caused a slight shift in the traditional bread winner roles as women hv equal opportunities for education and work and work itself is not physical, as in working the fields.
