Graham Ranger is a staunch advocate of education for peace. While spelling out the role of education, Graham maintains that education has a pre-eminent obligation to educate young people pacifists and catalysts for social change.
Some of important views of Graham expressed in one of the articles are as follows.
· Schools have responsibilities, through their values and practices, to educate for peace. They have an obligation to develop personal and inter-cultural understanding and tolerance.
· (Schools need to) promote peace through the curriculum and events, projects, community action and most importantly through interrelationships.
· By bringing together the diverse cultural groups and developing the attitudes of cultural appreciation, schools can make a positive difference to society.
Graham further says that the problem was how best to do it through education rather than indoctrination because the latter was surely anti-educational.
