WHEN THE results are displayed when you search Google you will find a 'Show Options' button on the top left after 'Web'. If you click this you can filter or refine your search out put in many ways. Videos, Forums, Reviews: each of these options allows you to get only results relating to this aspect. For example if you are searching for a product, limiting search results to Reviews will be sensible. Forums will take you discussions and a variety of view points on a topic. If you are in a learning mood, Videos teach you learn very fast.

If you are interested in seeing the entries selected upon time of entry into Google System then choose the sub options under Time. You can see additions during the past 24 hours, or during the past week or during the past one year. For instance I keep searching for the same query: 'Elder Abuse India' again and again. If I click 'Past 24 hours' then I can land upon the latest results. This feature is most useful to me as I keep searching on certain standard questions.

Within the set of results, you again sort them by date or relevance. You can specify whether you need more pictures (images) or more text. If you are doing research on a certain topic, then Timeline will be most useful. For example if want to know all about Citizen Journalism in India, choosing Timeline will help. You get the results neatly arranged by Year and a graphical representation is also available. On the timeline graphics you can choose the year and then months, dates etc also.

If you want to get back to 'Show All' without any filtering simply click on Web option or use Reset Options. Sometimes you may get an additional option like say Wonder Wheel. If found you may get an image of a cluster word (topics) that are inter related. You may explore this dynamic tree of subjects! Not all sub options are available for all types of searches. One needs to keep exploring and watching for improvements!

Hope this note may help you do more purposeful and pin pointed searches. Happy googling!
